Henna Tattoo for Women of Color

Here is one of many photos taken at a spa day party I was so happy to attend.

Many people see photos of henna tattoo on European skin and think that perhaps henna will not give a good result of different shades of skin.

Mehandi is not a European art form, but comes from the cultures of Africa, India and the Middle East.

Henna stains best on the palms of the hands for people of all races and skin types. The next best color of stain occurs when the henna is applied to the back of the hand.

This photo features a simple, yet elegant henna pattern applied to the back of the hand.

This is not black henna, rather a photo of the paste on the skin.

Notice how the pattern makes the hand more lovely.

Good henna designs always make the hand more attractive.

Rihanna Tattoos

Now we will feature the various tattoos of young talented Barbados born singer, Rihanna.

Rihanna has a tremendous passion for tattoo artwork, some might even say its an addiction, so lets take a look at her 13 tattoos.

Some of Rihanna's tattoos include:

Small musical note on left ankle.
Pisces zodiac tattoo behind her right ear.
A star inside her left ear.
The roman numerals XI IV LXXXVI on her left shoulder.
Sanskrit prayer going down her hip.
Small skull and crossbones with pink bow on her lower leg.
Shhh... on her right index finger.
Love on her let middle finger.
Arabic phrase on her ribcage area, which read Freedom is God.

Hayden Panettiere Tattoos

Here we have the beautifully talented Hollywood actress of both the small and big screens, Hayden Panettiere.

Hayden Panettiere has two tattoos which we know of, including her much publicized misspelled tattoo that reads "Vivere senza rimipianti" in Italian, which translates "to live without regrets".

Unfortunately for Hayden, her tattoo reads "rimipianti" instead of "rimpianti," adding an extra "i."

She also has a tiny tattoo on her right ankle, of the zodiac sign of Leo.

Pamela Anderson Tattoos

Lets have a close look at the tattoos of model, actress, activist and blonde bombshell Pamela Anderson.

Pamela Anderson has 3 visible tattoos, including a barbwire armband on her left arm, a small ring on her finger which was her wedding ring from Tommy Lee.

Pam also has an interesting, rather large tribal tattoo on her lower back extending down to her butt.

Michelle Hunziker Tattoo

Here we have a great look at the tattoo of Michelle Yvonne Hunziker, a Swiss actress, model, singer and a television personality, best known to Italian and German audiences.

Michelle Hunziker simply has one visible tattoo, which is a tribal armband on her right bicep.

Mena Suvari Tattoos

Lets have a quick look at the tattoos of delightful celebrity actress, Mena Suvari.

Mena Suvari has three tattoos that i am aware of , all of which are in rather peculiar locations on her body. She has a large beautiful lion face on the back of her neck, and just below that is an interesting script tattoo which reads "Word, Sound, Power".

Her third tattoo is the number "13", which is near the bottom of her breast bone (sternum).

Bridal Henna Tattoo for the Back of the Hand.

Here is a photo of a traditional henna tattoo pattern for the back of the hand.  The fine lines and full pattern are typical of a traditional henna tattoo pattern from India.

Many customers also order this as a "bridal" henna pattern, although this tattoo does not go all the way to the elbow as is the custom for many brides.

I used  henna paste made with finely ground Jamila henna powder, the 2009 crop, which made the paste flow easily from the hand rolled cone.  This year's crop of Jamila henna is wondefully "gummy" and make a very workable paste.

I have learned to make a more liquid paste and to roll a more narrow henna cone to give better control over the flow of the henna.

I think this pattern took about 20 minutes from start to finish. A glaze of lemon sugar was applied to help give good color, and to keep the paste on the skin as long as possible.
